He describes his membership as ethnically and economically diverse, talking about the staff's broad-based efforts to appeal to the entire congregation. He discusses the challenges of creating a sense of religious community amidst cultural and economic differences. He also talks about the church as a site of cross-cultural worship and communication, despite these differences. He describes the importance of church members uniting to help each other and to help other local churches and community service organizations interested in helping people improve their housing situations.
